So, you're new to Drones, and perhaps none of the menus here make sense?
Well, that is perfectly fine. Here's how it works.
To fly a Drone, you're either wanting to fly for fun, or fly commercially, or simply not sure. Wherever you are on your journey, Dronestar™ can take you from zero knowledge or experience, right the way through to becoming a fully operational , commercial unmanned aviation business.
To keep things simple, Drones or 'UA's - Unmanned Aircraft) after separated in to 'Class Types' - Multirotor, Aeroplane, Helicopter, Powered Lift.
Within these 'Classes' there are weight categories. These weight categories determine what you can and can't do, and what licensing is required to operate them. They go something like this.
Under 250g - Micro RPA or 'excluded category'. You can fly these aircraft commercially without a licence, for yourself, or someone else. But, you do need to know the rules and have a CASA operator accreditation. Aircraft such as the DJI Mini Pro series fit into this category.
250g to 2Kg - Very Small RPA (excluded category'. Again, you can fly these aircraft commercially, but are a little more limited as to where to can fly them if operating them with an operator accreditation only - which is mandatory. Aircraft such as Air or Mavic series from DJI fit into this category.
2Kg to 7Kg - Very Small RPA (included category). To fly these aircraft commercially, you must have a CASA Remote Pilots Licence (RePL) 7KG restricted as a minimum. These aircraft are typically very versatile, small and very portable. Some, such as the DJI Matrice 4 series, are very light powerful drones with outstanding survey, search and rescue and night capability.
7Kg to 25Kg - Small RPA (included category). To fly these aircraft commercially, you must have an unrestricted 25Kg RePL. These are typically more advanced UA that are used in Survey, Mapping, Search and Rescue, various advanced night operations etc. Aircraft such as the DJI Matrice 400 Aircraft for into this category.
25Kg to 150Kg - Medium Category. In this category we find the larger aircraft such as Agricultural spray drones and heavy lift aircraft designed for moving heavier items, or specialised as window cleaning drones etc. In this category, you must hold a CASA RePL and be individually type rated on each individual aircraft you intend to fly. They all appear as individual aircraft on your your CASA RePL. Aircraft such as the DJI AGRAS Series and many others fit into this category.
From here, you have many options for advanced courses into survey and mapping, night operations, radio certification and Remote Operators Certificate or 'ReOC'.
