Night Visual (NVLOS) Operations

Increasing demand for operations after dark, has enabled pilots and businesses to tap into an ever expanding market as aircraft become more and more capable of operations beyond standard day flight. Wildlife monitoring - Deer, Koala, Kangaroo counts are in high demand, especially in rural areas through council and other agencies such as Parks. Solar farm surveys, search and rescue and LiDAR surveys are all operations that are well suited to after dark work.

Flying at night is 'different'.. situational awareness changes, and how you see and perceive tings is very different compared to day. You're  aircraft is only being visually positioned by its position lights. Taking off, safely completing a manual flight or automated flight, and landing at night are all challenging.

Here at Dronestar™,  we've been flying at night for years and have built our course around real-world flight in the commercial world, using a variety of aircraft and sensors.

CASA do not have a 'Night' rating as such - unlike manned aviation, but all ReOC holders do have the 'ability' to fly at Night using their own authorised pilots under CASA exemption instrument 01/17. This course will get those pilots to a safe level of competency to allow them to comfortably operate aircraft and complete a variety of missions  after last light. It consists of a theory component available immediately after enrolment and an evening of practical flight.
